Screening or Assessment?

Is an Autism Screening Right for You?

A full clinical Autism assessment costs around £2,000 and is usually only needed to access medication.

Our remote professional Screening is often enough.

It gives you immediate personal clarity, deep insight into how your unique mind works, and official documentation required for workplace or study support.

Autism is characterised by differences (compared to ‘neurotypical’) in social communication and interaction, alongside restricted or repetitive behaviours, interests, or activities, frequently accompanied by challenges with sensory processing.

These traits can impact various aspects of life, including:

  • Communication and relationships: Differences in social understanding and interaction can affect how people form connections and communicate their needs.
  • Cognitive and learning styles: Individuals may have unique styles of processing information and learning, which can differ from neurotypical approaches, meaning their needs may not be met in traditional learning settings.
  • Career and educational paths: Navigating social dynamics and sensory environments in educational and professional settings can present both obstacles and opportunities.
  • Daily routines and independence: Sensory sensitivities and executive function challenges can impact the ability to manage daily tasks.
  • Focus and Flexibility: A focus on specific interests and a desire for predictable routines can sometimes create challenges in adapting to change or shifting attention to required tasks.
  • Mental health: The experience of navigating a neurotypical world can increase vulnerability to anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions.

Remember Your Strengths:

  • Celebrate neurodiversity: Recognising and valuing the unique ways of thinking and experiencing the world can foster a positive self-identity.
  • Cultivate your talents: Focusing on and developing specific skills and interests, often pursued with great passion and depth, can lead to significant achievements and joy.
  • Consider your abilities: Acknowledging and building upon inherent strengths, such as attention to detail and pattern recognition, can lead to success in various areas.
  • Champion your unique perspective: The distinct viewpoints and insights often held can lead to innovative problem-solving and creative contributions.
  • Connect with others: Building relationships with understanding and accepting people, including within carefully-chosen communities, can provide invaluable support and belonging.
  • Create supportive environments: Identifying and implementing accommodations and strategies that cater to individual sensory and communication needs can maximise comfort and potential.

If you have been wondering about Autism, you are not alone.

Many people experience challenges with social communication, sensory processing, or repetitive patterns, and it can be hard to know where to turn.

Think of an Autism screening as a helpful first step. It is a way to explore whether some of the things you are experiencing might be related to Autism.

We use questionnaires to get a clear picture of what is going on for you. You can answer the questions at your own pace via a personalised link.

Our screenings provide the following three outcomes:

  • A Tailored Support Letter: This letter is designed to be shared with people who support you, such as employers, educators, family, or friends. It is designed to facilitate discussions about reasonable adjustments and accommodations. Please note that if your screening results indicate you are unlikely to be autistic, the letter will be addressed directly to you and will explain these findings.
  • A Comprehensive Screening Report: This document provides a detailed overview of your Autistic cognitive profile, outlining your results, including scores, observations, and key findings. We hope this will be a valuable resource for you, your GP, or other healthcare professionals.
  • A Thoughtfully Curated Support Guide: This guide offers valuable insights and practical support strategies that may be helpful for your well-being, focusing on areas like sensory regulation, communication, and social interaction.

Self-Paced:

You will recieve a personalised link to access your Screening questions. This is usually dispatched immediately, however a short delay is possible if our server is dealing with a lot of requests.

You can complete your questions at a pace which feels most comfortable for you. If you need to leave and return later, your progress will have saved.

Some people like to answer all the questions immediately, and others prefer to take more time. There is no right or wrong way to approach this.

Once you have answered all the questions, we aim to write your personalised documents within 2 working days. This can take slightly longer at very busy times.

Professionally-Supported:

You will recieve a personalised link to book a video or phone call (your choice) with your Mental Health Professional. This is usually dispatched immediately, however a short delay is possible if our server is dealing with a lot of requests.

We aim to write your personalised documents within 2 working days after your appointment. This can take slightly longer at very busy times.

Some people like to answer all the questions immediately, and others prefer to take more time. There is no right or wrong way to approach this.

Professionally Supported:

You will receive personal support from a qualified Mental Health Professional. They will be a Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist or Clinical Psychologist.

The support will be via a one-to-one, 1-hour video or phone call (your choice).

They will ask you questions, help you answer them, and complete the questionnaire on your behalf.

Practical Benefits:

  • Workplace & Education: Our screening provides the documentation needed to initiate conversations with your employer or educational setting about reasonable adjustments. This might include sensory-friendly workspaces, flexible communication methods, or assistive technology.
  • Improved Wellbeing: The report highlights specific areas where you may experience challenges, allowing you to use the practical tools we suggest to manage sensory overload and social exhaustion.
  • Further Evaluation: While not a formal diagnosis, these results provide a solid foundation for your journey towards further evaluation (if you wish), making subsequent processes more efficient and focused.

Emotional Benefits:

  • Self-Acceptance: Learn more about why you think and feel the way you do, leading to a greater sense of kindness towards yourself.
  • Reduced Anxiety: Explore what is behind your stress, understand your sensory triggers, and find helpful ways to feel calmer.
  • Validation: Know that your experiences are acknowledged, helping you build confidence in your unique strengths.

No, they are different. A full Autism assessment differs from a screening because it is significantly more expensive, usually costing around £2,000.

An assessment also requires questioning two people in your life, such as a parent and a partner, to ask about your behaviour.

Importantly, an assessment provides a clinical diagnosis. A full assessment is necessary if you would like to try medication. Otherwise, a screening is sufficient for gaining personal clarity and accessing support.

Your privacy is our priority. Our team adheres to strict ethical guidelines, and we use secure, reputable third-party platforms for our software that are GDPR compliant. We will not share your personal information or results with any other third parties without your explicit consent, except where legally required.

  • Ages 18+ Only: Our Screenings are suitable for people aged 18 and over. By purchasing a screening, you are acknowledging you are an adult. Your date of birth can be noted on your documents if you wish, to help identify you, however this is not required.
  • Consent: If proceeding with an order on behalf of another person, you acknowledge they are aged 18+ and that you have secured their explicit consent. You must enter the details of the adult being screened, not your own.
  • Refund Policy:
    • Self-Paced: Once the clinical questionnaire link has been dispatched to your email address, we are unable to offer a refund.
    • Professionally-Supported: Once the video call booking has been made, we are unable to offer a refund.
  • Professionally-Supported Video Call: If you need to change your booking, you are welcome to do this once.

I spent years thinking I was just useless at staying on top of daily life. Getting this done took a huge weight off my shoulders. It was clear, straightforward, and reading my cognitive profile felt like someone was finally explaining how I operate. I’ve stopped being so hard on myself and my wife understands me better.

Meet our Director - dedicated to supporting you

Alison Barr

Having spent 25 years as a Psychotherapist working across mental health and neurodiversity, I know how difficult accessing support can be.

Long NHS waiting lists and steep private fees mean people often can’t get answers when they need them most.

I launched this dedicated screening service to bridge that gap.

I’m delighted to say that my colleagues and I have supported over 2500 people to gain practical clarity and secure essential adjustments at work and study, without the long wait, or the big price tag.

We are a collective of Psychiatrists, Psychotherapists and Clinical Psychologists. You are in safe hands with us.

Alison Barr, Director
