How does Exposure Therapy help Phobias?

Most people with a phobia are aware that they have a problem but they are still unable to overcome it.

By using techniques such as ‘Exposure Therapy’, The Green Rooms can help support you get to feel your phobia is no longer affecting or hindering you.

Exposure Therapy gradually exposes you to your phobia, in a supportive environment, conquering your physical and psychological reactions along the way.

You are supported to cope when faced with your phobia by viewing it as something which does not need to pose a threat to you.

What is the difference between ‘Traditional’ and ‘Virtual Reality’ Exposure Therapy?

We offer both ‘Traditional‘ and ‘Virtual Reality‘ exposure therapy.

‘Traditional’ includes using 2 dimentional and 3 dimentional stimulous as well as real-life situations.

‘Virtual Reality’ includes the use of a VR headset, which can offer a more powerful and realistic (and always safe) exposure experience.

Which Phobias can be helped by Exposure Therapy?

Nobody wants to live under the shadow of a phobia or phobias.

We aim to obliterate the effects of your phobia(s) quickly and effectively, leaving you to live a more relaxing life.

Phobias can be vast and varied, e.g. heights, flying, water, the dark, spiders, small spaces, the dentist, busy crowds, clowns or bananas.

There is no such thing as a phobia too small or too large.

Each phobia is important as it has physical and/or emotional power over you.

What Specialised Phobia Programmes do you have?

We have specialised programmes to help with certain phobias.

These programmes provide a total of 10 hours of exposure therapy, plus, exercises to do in your own time.

We will add more to the list of phobias over time, so if we don’t have a specialised programme for your phobia, please feel welcome to contact us and ask if it is possible.
